Mazda3, Mazda6 gets tweaks, upgrades for 2017
Mazda unveiled new versions of two of its most important models in the U.S. on Tuesday night, adding relatively subtle tweaks to both for 2017.
Both the compact Mazda3 and midsize Mazda6 get what Mazda calls "G-Vectoring Control," which uses steering, accelerator and suspension so that drivers don't need to steer as aggressively. And the cars are quieter, because more sound insulation and better weatherstripping have been added.
The 2017 Mazda3 gets a redesigned grille, LED headlights and taillights and a new rear bumper on some versions. It also is expected to handle better and will be quieter.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel will have "a more comfortable grip," Mazda says. It also gets an electronic parking brake as standard equipment.
Mazda6 gets a traffic-sign recognition feature, lane-keep assist and advanced blind spot monitoring.
Mazda6 will also be one of the few midsize sedans offered with an optional manual transmission.
