Infiniti gives first look at sleek coupe-like sedan concept
If you want a peek into the future design of Infiniti luxury cars, look no further than the Q Inspiration Concept.
The Nissan luxury unit just released the first photo of the concept car it plans to show at the North American International Auto Show on Jan. 15.
The design points again to how automakers are blending the sleek, slope-backed look of coupes with the four-door convenience of a sedan. Infiniti says the design takes advantage of new fuel-saving powertrains and indicates where it plans to go with the look of its future vehicles.

Infiniti is no stranger to coupe design, having created one of the most striking with its Q60.

The new Q inspiration Concept puts a premium on space inside the passenger cabin.
"We aim to take traditional sedan architecture to its next stage of evolution," said Karim Habib, Infiniti's executive design director, in a statement. "Experimenting with new proportions in a typically conservative segment, the Q Inspiration features a shorter hood and elongated body."
The brand is also scoring attention for its engineering as well as design. At the Los Angeles Auto Show, it showed a new SUV that uses a new technology called variable compression. The system can vary the stroke of the piston inside the cylinder to change compression ratios to maximum performance or efficiency, depending on conditions.
Infiniti said the engine should generate 268 horsepower and a 27% increase in fuel economy compared to a similar V-6.
