2024 Maserati models go all-electric with GranTurismo, Quattroporte, and more

We're about to see big changes at Maserati. The automaker has committed to going all-electric while maintaining its legacy of evocative design and spirited performance. The sporty MC20 and GranTurismo are available, each a comparatively new vehicle slated to offer an all-electric powertrain. Simultaneously, the aged Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans enter what's potentially their final year of production as we know them, hinted at by the title of their trim levels: Ultima, which means "last" in Italian. While one of these cars will likely be retired soon, the other is expected to evolve into an electric vehicle.  See what's new on every 2024 Maserati car and what to expect in the near future.

2024 Maserati Ghibli: What's new?

Two Maserati Ghibli trim levels are offered for 2024. The standard model is called Modena Ultima Q4, which uses a twin-turbocharged V-6 engine and standard AWD. It's loaded with features, such as heated and ventilated front sport seats, heated rear seats, soft-close doors, a power rear window sunshade, and a Harman Kardon audio system. Inside, black leather upholstery has red contrast stitching. Outside, sporty front and rear bumpers, 21-inch wheels and red brake calipers distinguish the Ghibli Modena Ultima Q4.

Above that is the Ghibli 334 Ultima. Limited to just 103 examples worldwide, the Ghibli 334 Ultima has a twin-turbocharged V-8 engine that enables the top speed noted in this special edition car's name: 334 kph, or about 207 mph. This top speed makes the Ghibli the fastest combustion-powered sedan in the world, according to Maserati. Beyond many luxurious niceties, the Ghibli 334 Ultima is adorned with red fender badging and chic teal paint. This model celebrates the end of V-8 engines in Maserati cars. We expect Maserati will retire the Ghibli soon, so snatch one up while you still can.

Ghibli: Pros and cons

Pros

  • Easy-to-use infotainment
  • Sporty, poised handling
  • Record-setting top speed

Cons

  • Oldest car in the segment
  • Ride quality is a bit firm
  • Some cheap interior bits

2024 Maserati Quattroporte: What's new?

For 2024, a single Maserati Quattroporte trim level is available (a 2021 model is pictured). Called Modena Ultima Q4, it's powered by a twin-turbo V-6 engine linked to standard AWD. Features include ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, soft-close doors, four-zone climate control, and a Harman Kardon premium audio system. Red thread weaves a contrast stitch through the black leather upholstery. Sporty front and rear bumpers, 21-inch wheels and red brake calipers distinguish the Quattroporte Modena Ultima Q4 from outside. Expect the next Quattroporte to offer an electric powertrain.

Quattroporte: Pros and cons

Pros

  • Agile handling, great chassis balance
  • Sumptuous interior materials
  • User-friendly infotainment

Cons

  • Over a decade old
  • No more V-8 engine
  • Less cabin space than rivals

2024 Maserati MC20: What's new?

No changes are made to Maserati's supercar for 2024. The MC20 was revealed for 2022, and its Cielo convertible variant arrived for 2023. An all-electric MC20 Folgore is expected to debut for 2025.

MC20: Pros and cons

Pros

  • Pure supercar exterior styling
  • Excellent suspension calibration
  • Powerful, high-tech V-6 engine

Cons

  • A V-8 engine would sound better

2024 Maserati GranTurismo: What's new?

A new generation of Maserati GranTurismo arrives for 2024 — isn't it gorgeous? Yes, it looks rather similar to the car it replaces, but Maserati knew not to mess with a good thing. Inside, however, this luxurious four-seat coupe sees many changes as it integrates modern technology and design features. The biggest changes happen under the hood. Most GranTurismo models will be powered by a twin-turbocharged V-6 connected to standard AWD, quite a shift from the prior V-8, RWD car. However, an all-electric GranTurismo Folgore is even more of a departure, delivering impressive performance without any tailpipe emissions. Expect a Maserati GranTurismo convertible to join the lineup eventually.

GranTurismo: Pros and cons

Pros

  • Looks absolutely gorgeous
  • Richly appointed, high-tech cabin
  • Speedy with any powertrain

Cons

  • Near-$200,000 starting price
  • Wanting for V-8 and RWD
  • Folgore range might not impress
