Is your car affected by the GM recall? Here's how to check

Hundreds of thousands of vehicle owners around the U.S. may have to pay a visit to the shop after General Motors recalled nearly 600,000 Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC vehicles due to engine issues that could cause damage or total failure.
According to a notice first reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on April 24, the recall covers597,630 total vehicles, including 126,027 Cadillacs, 174,208 Chevrolets and 297,395 GMC cars.
The connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components in these vehicles may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure, according to the recall notice. Some warning signs are noticeable before engine failure, such as a knocking or banging sound from the engine, the check engine light turning on. Drivers may notice other engine performance issues, such as abnormal shifting, hesitation, or reduced propulsion.
Is your vehicle included in the recall? Here's how to check.
How to check if your car is recalled
Car owners looking to check the status of their vehicles, car parts or car accessories can enter their information into the NHTSA recall database or check Paste BN's recall database for car and motor vehicle recalls.
Search your car's make (Honda, Toyota, Ford, etc.) in Paste BN's recall database to find all recent recalls issued by that carmaker.
If you have your vehicle's license plate number or vehicle identification number (VIN), you can search those directly on the NHTSA website. The site also provides information about recalled car seats, tires and other equipment.
