If you went fishing for some “Chilean Sea Bass Crackers” you might be stuck at the dock for a while.

Goldfish announced that it would be temporarily changing its name to appeal to adult consumers. They took the bait.

The limited-edition crackers, priced at $7.38 for two bags, were available for purchase online Wednesday. By Thursday, the snack that smiles back has sold out of its first batch.

“Sorry, all gone for today!” the website said. “Come back tomorrow at 9 am EST to fish for more Chilean Sea Bass.”

The Chilean Sea Bass Crackers are available to buy at ChileanSeaBassCrackers.com. The company teased "new drops of inventory" through Oct. 30.

Goldfish crackers aren't just for kids, company says

Although the name change was geared to lure in Millennial and Gen Z adults, the company notes that the love for the Goldfish brand has no age limit.

"We know the love for Goldfish spans all ages,” Danielle Brown, the Goldfish vice president, said in a news release. “Chilean Sea Bass is a playful nod to adults that the iconic fish-shaped snack is for grown-up tastes too.”

Brand previous tried to allure adult snackers

The brand has recently aimed to allure adults through recent limited edition flavors.

Among these are the Goldfish OLD BAY Seasoned Crackers, which blended 18 herbs and spices to serve as a tangy topping for seafood and other meals.

In 2021, the brand also introduced the Goldfish Frank’s RedHot Crackers through a partnership with the Pepperidge Farm brand. The snack combined classic hot sauce ingredients like vinegar and aged cayenne peppers.

"The No. 1 requested flavor for Goldfish was hot and spicy," Campbell Snacks chief marketing officer Janda Lukin previously told Paste BN. "This flavor is for the older, mature audience, who requested and can handle the heat."
