Frito-Lay recalls Tostitos yellow corn tortilla chips distributed in 13 states: See where

Frito-Lay has recalled some of its Tostitos chips after a possible contamination of undeclared milk that could be harmful to those with certain allergies.

The recall impacts about 1,300 bags of the company's 13-ounce bag of Tostitos Cantina Traditional Yellow Corn Tortilla Chips, according to Frito-Lay. These bags may include nacho cheese tortilla chips with an undeclared milk that may cause serious or life-threatening allergic reactions to those with high milk sensitivity.

The affected chip bags were distributed to retailers and online vendors across 13 states including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Virginia, West Virginia, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina and Tennessee.

The recall does not impact any other Tostitos products, the company said.

How to check if my bag is recalled?

The recalled bags of chips will have a guaranteed fresh date of May 20, 2025 on the front of the bag and a specific manufacturing code.

If a bag has a manufacturing code where the "XX" (in the following image) is any number between 30-55, then it is recalled.

Anyone with questions can call Frito-Lay's customer support line at 800-352-4477 during office hours Monday between 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. EST.

Brand recalled over 6,000 classic potato chips last year

In December, Frito-Lay issued a recall of more than 6,300 of its 13-ounce bags of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips as they may have contained undeclared milk, posing a risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction.

Earlier this year, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration classified the recall as "Class I," the most severe risk level as there was "reasonable probability that the use of, or exposure to, a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death."

The alert said that the batch of chips were distributed in Washington and Oregon and were available for purchase as soon as Nov. 3, 2024.
