Ground coffee recalled over mislabeling error: See list of 15 affected states
More than 4,000 packages of ground coffee sold in 15 states are being recalled due to a labeling error.
The recall, which includes 692 cases of Our Family Foods 12 oz. ground coffee bags, was initiated on March 13, according to a notice on the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) website. On Monday, the incident was classified as a Class II recall.
Class II recalls include products that "may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote," according to the FDA.
Distributor SpartanNash said in an email to Paste BN Friday that the company's "top priority is the safety of our consumers."
"We issued the recall on March 13 immediately after being notified by our supplier that the product had been mislabeled," the statement said. "All recalled product was already removed from store shelves and destroyed prior to the FDA’s classification of the recall earlier this week."

What coffee is being recalled?
Our Family Traverse City Cherry Traverse City Cherry Decaf Light Roast Ground Coffee is the subject of the recall. The coffee comes in 12-ounce packages and has a UPC code of 0 70253 11080 and a best-by date before 08/03/25, according to the FDA notice.
The impacted coffee was distributed by The SpartanNash Company of Grand Rapids, Michigan. In total, 4,152, 12-ounce packages were recalled.
Why is the coffee under recall?
"A portion of the production of Our Family Traverse City Ground Coffee was mislabeled as decaffeinated," the FDA recall notice said.
What should you do if you purchased the coffee?
Anyone who purchased Our Family Traverse City Ground Coffee with the corresponding UPC and best by date listed above can return it to the store where it was purchased for a refund or replacement, a SpartanNash spokesperson said in an email to Paste BN.
What states are impacted by coffee recall?
The products were shipped to distribution centers and retail stores in 15 states, according to the FDA notice published online. The states include:
