Alert issued for pork carnitas sold at Aldi after suspected metal contamination

Health officials have announced a public health alert for fully cooked, tray-packaged pork carnitas products that may be potentially contaminated with foreign objects.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Services (FSIS), the 16-oz. " Pork Carnitas SEASONED & SEARED PORK WITH JUICES SLOW COOKED WITH CITRUS" produced from April 1-2 may contain metal pieces.
The packaging also has use by dates of June 30, 2025 or July 1, 2025 printed on the side. The establishment number is "Est. 46049."
The products were distributed to Aldi grocery stores across the country. There is no recall for the product because it is no longer for sale.
Toss or return the product to store, FSIS says
The company informed the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Services about the issue after they noticed "equipment damage that may have contaminated the carnitas products" with metal material.
The agency said that although the product is no longer on the shelves, some shoppers may have already purchased it from the supermarket. It urges consumers who may still have the products in their freezers to discard or return them to the store.
No injuries connected to the product have been reported.
