Children's plush toy recalled because of choking hazard
CHARLOTTE — A popular children's toy has been recalled nationwide because of a potential choking hazard.
According to the U.S. Consumer Safety Commission, around 25,000 Douglas Plush Toys were recalled Wednesday. The recall involves three versions of the toy: Chewie the English Bulldog, Oliver the Bear and Charlotte the Fox.
The plastic eyes can detach, which causes a potential choking hazard, the commission said.

"Consumers should immediately take the recalled plush toys away from young children and contact the firm to receive a free replacement product or full refund," the U.S. Consumer Safety Commission says.
Two reports of the eyes detaching or loosening have been reported, but there have been no reports of injuries.
The recalled toys were sold at specialty toy and gift stores nationwide from July 2014 to April 2017. They were also distributed by UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation to individuals and organizations, the safety commission said.
