The best candidate for a job isn't always the one who markets themselves the best. And recruiters and employers know it.

It's important to note that your ongoing actions online matter as vast amounts of professionally relevant information can and is being aggregated and compiled into profiles so recruiters can find previously undiscoverable candidates.
