Talk about a win-win! Not only is this one of the easiest methods to make a Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, grandparent, or teacher gift extra special and unique, but the execution is as easy as gift-wrapping gets.
Watch the video above to learn how to wrap a gift with kids' artwork.
How to wrap a gift with kids’ artwork
- If the gift is small, use one sheet of artwork as wrapping paper for your gift. Start by placing the design side of the artwork face down on your wrapping table.
- Center your gift on the sheet, aiming to display the bulk of the design in the center of the top of the gift. Trim excess if necessary.
- Wrap as usual with transparent wrapping tape so you don’t obstruct or damage the artwork.
- If the gift is larger, you can tape several pieces of artwork together and create a collage to wrap the gift.
- Alternatively, if you have a gift bag, use the artwork to make a homemade tag.
- To make a tag, trace a shape on your artwork using an object you have around the house like a small bowl or block. Any circle or square works well. Cut out the shape.
- Punch a hole at the top of the shape using a hole punch.
- Thread a piece of ribbon through the hole and attach it to one of the handles on the bag to make your tag.
- Curl the ends of the ribbon to elevate the look.
- If you don’t have any pre-made artwork from your kids hanging around to use as gift wrap, create a fun activity by having them draw or paint on a brown paper bag or parchment paper and use that to wrap.
Thoughtful DIY gift-wrapping ideas
If using your kiddo’s artwork to wrap a gift isn’t an option or you’re looking for other thoughtful DIY gift-wrapping ideas, consider these:
- Use a scarf or bandana to wrap a small gift, tying it in a knot or bow at the top to secure the fabric around the gift.
- If you have great scrap fabric from home projects lying around, use it as a unique and stylish way to wrap any gift.
- For the avid traveler in your life, use a paper map to wrap a gift. This is such a fun, creative way to show your gift recipient how much you care about their interests.
- Or for the music lover, use one or several pieces of sheet music to wrap a gift.
- Wrap a gift with plain paper bags, parchment paper, or kraft paper, and add stamps that resonate with your gift recipient for a personal touch.
