It doesn’t matter if you’re making dinner for one or a group; foil packet meals are an easy crowd-pleaser. The meals are assembled in aluminum foil before being wrapped and placed in the oven.

Since the food packets are customizable, there is something for everyone, including the pickiest eaters. The best part is the foil becomes the serving dish, eliminating the need for extra dishes.

You’ll need a few sheets of aluminum foil for this. You'll use one to line your baking sheet and one for each packet you make.

Cajun seasoning recipe

A good Cajun seasoning can make a big impact on your seafood bake. If you prefer a homemade version to anything store-bought, here’s what you need:

To make a Cajun seasoning blend, combine:

  • Paprika.
  • Garlic.
  • Cayenne pepper (or spice of your choice).
  • Oregano.
  • Black pepper.
  • Thyme.
  • A little bit of salt.

Butter makes everything better, so don’t forget the Cajun butter for your seafood bake!

To make Cajun butter, mix:

  • Melted butter.
  • Tons of fresh chopped garlic.
  • Cajun seasoning.

The seasoning blend and butter are to taste, so add as much or as little as you like for each.

Easy Cajun boil recipe

Start by placing the vegetables in the middle of the foil. Be careful not to overload it with too many vegetables; a little bit will do the trick. Opt for variety instead of quantity.

Add some precooked petite potatoes, smoked sausage and top with your favorite seafood. Finally, sprinkle on the Cajun seasoning and add some Cajun butter.

Not sure what to put in your seafood boil? Some of the classic ingredients of a Cajun seafood boil include:

  • Onion.
  • Peppers.
  • Corn.
  • Potatoes.
  • Shrimp.
  • Scallops.
  • Fish.
  • Sausage.

Once you have everything ready, it’s time to fold the foil. Fold the edges together over the top of the mix, creating a packet. Don't wrap too tightly, allow space for the steam that builds up as it cooks. Repeat these steps for each packet.

Place the packets on a baking sheet and put them in the oven for 15-20 minutes at 425º. You can also opt to throw the foil packets on the grill.

Top with more Cajun butter and a squeeze of fresh lemon before serving and enjoying.
