Victoria’s Secret shuts down website after security threat

The Victoria’s Secret U.S. website is down amid an ongoing security threat the company says it is working to address.

The lingerie store chain is taking the necessary steps to address an ongoing security incident, according to a disclaimer customers see when opening the page.

"We have taken down our website and some in store services as a precaution. Our team is working around the clock to fully restore operations. We appreciate your patience during this process," the message reads.

While online shopping is currently unavailable, the company assured customers that both its Victoria’s Secret and PINK stores nationwide remain open, adding "we look forward to serving you."

"We immediately enacted our response protocols, third-party experts are engaged, and we took down our website and some in store services as a precaution," a Victoria’s Secret spokesperson said in a statement to Paste BN.

The company's shares fell more than 6.8% on May 28 at the close, according to Yahoo Finance.

Internet reacts to Victoria's Secret website outage

The outage appears to have been happening for a few days, with Bloomberg reporting that it started around Monday, May 26.

Many internet users quickly flocked to social media to comment on the Victoria's Secret website outage either to make jokes or to express frustration.

"Victoria’s Secret website down since last night and I couldn’t use a coupon that expired yesterday because of it," one X user wrote.

Another wrote: "Someone found out Victoria’s Secret…"
