It’s Day 5 of Sleep Week! Follow Reviewed experts’ smart picks on how to get better rest.

Stress is no good for a lot of reasons, but it especially wreaks havoc on your sleep. The good news: Mindfulness can improve sleep quality—and there’s benefits during waking hours, too. But meditation isn't always the easiest practice to begin. That's where we at Reviewed come in.

There’s a lot more where this came from. Sign up for our twice-weekly newsletter to get all our reviews, expert advice, deals and more.

How you can start meditating

Of course, there’s the issue of how to start meditating in the first place. To make the habit stick, incorporate it into your daily routine (perhaps after you’ve finished your morning cup of coffee), or even try writing it down to set the intention.

No idea where to even begin? There are plenty of meditation apps to introduce you to mindfulness. Headspace, our favorite option, offers a whole library of beginner-friendly sessions, plus more advanced options as you deepen your practice. And come bedtime, there’s a bevy of winddowns and narrated stories to help you drift off to sleep.

If your bedroom is a no-electronics zone, we’ve tried screen-free devices, too. A palm-sized gadget, the Morphee offers 210 meditations and soundscapes with the twist of a few dials. Think guided breathing, visualization exercises and natural sounds such as rain noises.
