This year, Eid al-Fitr 2023 is expected to be on April 21, marking the end of Ramadan, the holy month where Muslims fast every day from sunrise to sunset. Eid is perhaps the most looked-forward-to holiday for Muslims. It's a common practice to wear clean, new clothes as a sign of a fresh beginning. Buying clothes isn't meant to be a materialistic act. People are encouraged to look nice and dress up, enjoy time with family and friends, cook delicious dishes and have intimate gatherings.

While you're not required to purchase something new, there is a responsibility to be festive and charitable on Eid, as is the tradition in Islam. Before Eid, Muslims pay Zakat al-Fitr, an obligation to give to charity once a year. The amount is calculated by how much wealth and income you have, due as soon as one lunar year has passed. This money is then distributed to the poor to help them buy new clothes and food and allow them to celebrate Eid as well.

There's oftentimes a rush to get an outfit on time for Eid. Window-shopping in person and weaving in and out of countless stores can be time-consuming; additionally, you may not live near stores that sell traditional clothing. These days, it's easier than ever to grab an Eid outfit you love without ever stepping out of the house — just look to the amazing online designers and boutiques that have popped up. You'll find everything from abayas and sarees to kurtas and lehengas.

If you need help figuring out where to start, save yourself that struggle by looking at our list below. From embroidered thobes to kurtas for men, we researched to find the best retailers and designers that suit different tastes, styles and sizes to shop from for your new Eid outfit.
