We’ve all been there—it’s the first day of summer, and you’re headed to the beach when you realize last year’s bottle of sunscreen is expired or there’s just a squirt left. When this happened to me last summer, I stopped at the closest pharmacy to peruse the aisles. I selected a bottle of Banana Boat that said it was a lightweight formula and had a 50 SPF rating. Little did I know I had just discovered my new favorite sunscreen.
The Banana Boat Light As Air sunscreen checks all the boxes when it comes to what I want in a sunscreen. It’s affordable, rubs in easily, is lightweight on the skin and has a pleasant scent.
The first time I went to use this sunscreen, I was thrilled at how easy it was to rub in. There’s nothing worse than a chalky sunscreen that sits on the skin for a pasty white layer that attracts all the sand. Instead, the Banana Boat Light As Air sunscreen rubs in like a lightweight lotion. After applying, my skin doesn’t feel sticky or greasy, I’m just left with its pleasant scent.

Sunscreen scents are often…a little much. That sickly blend of tropical coconut fragrance isn’t my favorite, and I was pleased to find that this Banana Boat sunscreen had a much more refined version of that scent. It’s much more toned down but still makes me think of the beach every time I slather it on.

Above all, I want my sunscreen to be effective. Despite feeling so luxurious when I apply it, it doesn’t sacrifice good SPF protection. It has a 50 SPF rating which is on the upper range of the FDA’s recommendation. As long as I follow the recommended usage on the bottle and reapply every few hours, my skin stays well-protected and sunburn free.

It also comes in spray-on and facial formulas. I like using both in addition to the regular Light As Air formula. The facial sunscreen doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin or cause breakouts and the spray-on formula is perfect for easy mid-day application.
For a new addition to your beach tote, check out the Banana Boat Light As Air sunscreen. It’s lightweight but non-greasy, offers excellent protection and you can find it anywhere. It's affordable and available on Amazon plus you can find it in most big-name retailers like Target and Walgreens.
