When we put the two headsets up against each other, we decided that the Meta Quest 2 is our favorite all-around VR headset, mostly due to its price. The Meta Quest 3 won us over in almost every other category, making this Prime Day deal even more enticing. Below, we break down what we like about both headsets.

Performance

We prefer the Meta Quest 3 over the Meta Quest 2 if you’re looking for seriously impressive performance. The new headset features faster processing power, more vibrant resolution, and increased system memory (RAM). The battery life for the two devices is the same, maxing out at about three hours depending on use. 

Features and content library

The Meta Quest 3 is a proper mixed reality headset compared to the Meta Quest 2 virtual reality headset, so there are going to be some obvious differences. The Meta Quest 3 allows users to experience a totally immersive and seemingly limitless world of games. One of our favorite features is that the play area is automatically assessed so you don’t have to manually draw a boundary with your controller. You’ll have access to exclusive new games and apps designed specifically for the Meta Quest 3, as well as access to any existing content from your older Meta Quest 2. 

Comfort and controllers

It doesn’t matter how feature-rich a wearable device is if it is uncomfortable. The Meta Quest 3 has a two-pronged fabric band at the back to create a snug fit for longer game play. It also has two wireless Touch Pro controllers with haptic feedback so you can actually feel vibrations during certain games. For the ultimate immersive gaming experience that doesn’t sacrifice comfort, the Meta Quest 3 wins. 

Price

Typically retailing for $500, the Meta Quest 3 is admittedly pretty expensive. That's why we recommend the Meta Quest 2 if you are trying to shop a little smarter. Usually ringing up at around $300, the older headset is much more affordable and will still get the job done.
