Climate change could sink the Statue of Liberty
Goodbye, Lady Liberty? A new report says climate change -- including sea-level rise, coastal erosion, flooding, and wildfires -- is putting many of our national landmarks at risk, including the Statue of Liberty, the Kennedy Space Center and several national parks. The report says Jamestown, the first English settlement in the Americas, will likely be underwater by the end of the century.
Microsoft unveils new tablet to kill your laptop
There's a new tablet on the block. Microsoft, whose tablet line is struggling to compete with Apple's still-dominant iPad and Samsung's Android-powered tablets, unveiled the Surface Pro 3 tablet on Tuesday. You can set it on your lap and type like a laptop, or write on it with a pen like a notepad. Microsoft says the new tablet could replace your laptop. Paste BN's tech columnist Edward C. Baig says, on the surface, it appears Microsoft might just be able to pull it off.

While it feels super unsettling for drivers, the pace of the recalls is intentional. GM wants to purge lurking safety issues and move on.

China is fuming. On Monday, the U.S. Department of Justice indicted five Chinese military officers on charges of cyberspying on U.S. companies. A day later, China retaliated by suspending a joint working group on cyber-security with the U.S. (it sounds like it wasn't a big deal since those talks weren't going anywhere). Now, some are worried the superpower may try to punish U.S. companies operating in the country.
