Two dead in Manhattan store shooting
Two people are dead after gunshots were fired inside a Home Depot store in Manhattan that was crowded with Sunday shoppers.
One man was declared dead at the scene, and another was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Police Capt. Steven Wren said a 31-year-old worker at the store argued with another man before shooting him multiple times, then turned the gun on himself. The New York Post reported the victim was a 38-year-old manager.
The shots were fired around 2:40 p.m. at the store on West 23rd street between Fifth and Sixth avenues. The area was crowded with shoppers preparing for the approaching winter storm.
"It was crazy," shopper Susan Lowry told the Post. "Some people jumped on the floor, others hid behind aisles or ran for the exits."
Home Depot spokesman Stephen Holmes confirmed the shooting and said the company was "deeply saddened.''
