Popular Ticketmaster site down

Anyone looking to buy tickets for a concert or sports game through the popular site Ticketmaster.com was out of luck for a brief period this morning.

The site went down for at least an hour as users tried to get on the site to buy tickets for the latest concerts, including new dates for shows featuring classic metal band AC/DC andCanadian rock band Barenaked Ladies.

Angry users rushed to Twitter to voice complaints. When they tried to reach Ticketmaster or buy tickets through its sister site LiveNation.com, a message appears that reads, "An error occurred while processing your request."

"AC/DC announces their North American tour dates and the @Ticketmaster website crashes," wrote Twitter user Michael Gibbs. "It's 2015 upgrade your system already."

Another user, Jen Zeman, wrote on Twitter, "What's going on with your site? Can't get in to buy @Godsmack_Music pre-sale tic. Many people can't - come on!"

In response to two tweets, LiveNation wrote, "We apologize for the inconvenience. Please check back later." It did not explain what happened to the site.

In a statement, Ticketmaster said, "We experienced a service disruption on the web version of the site." The IT folks were updating the site when something they did on the backend triggered the outage, said spokesman Paul Pflug.
