5 things you need to know this weekend
1. Samsung's Galaxy 6 unveiling Sunday
Sumsung's Galaxy S6 with an all-metal design similar to that of the iPhone 6 and HTC's One M8 will be unveiled Sunday. Both devices — the S6 and S6 Edge — will be 20% faster and consume 35% less power than previous models. Other features will include a curvy wrap around screen, high resolution QHD display and updated front and rear cameras.The smartphone will be selling at about $100 and available on all major wireless carriers.
2. Disney's historic auction
Want a peak into the Disney memorabilia treasure trove? Van Eaton Galleries will auction off Disneyland antiques like the Pinocchio head from a 1968 walk-around character, the 1956 Disney Main Street Station Flag, and an original Disneyland cast member badge online Saturday. 3. SpaceX planning to launch Falcon 9 from Cape Canaveral
And we have lift off! Maybe. SpaceX is expected to launch Falcon 9 from Cape Canaveral in Florida Sunday night. The rocket will attempt to deliver two commercial communication satellites into orbit. SpaceX's last Falcon 9 rocket launch in February delivered the DSCOVR satellite to beam back pictures of the sunlit orb of our planet suspended in space.
4. Netflix movies to watch before they expire
This weekend, we are sad to say goodbye to seven movies leaving Netflix. Out of 60 expiring movies on the streaming network, only a few made our list of "must see before they go." (Goodbye, Dumb and Dumber and The Blair Witch Project.) But never fear, Netflix will also release new movies throughout the month for our streaming pleasure like: Finding Neverland, Aziz Ansari Live at Madison Square Garden and season seven of Mad Men.
5. Meteorological Spring
The USA's crazy, topsy-turvy winter is about to come to an end Sunday. Good riddance! Record cold temperatures have been set over the past few weeks in several cities on the East Coast. Boston has been hardest hit, slogging through its second-snowiest winter on record, with more than 8 feet so far, according to the National Weather Service. Several western cities like Reno, Las Vegas and San Francisco will see their warmest winter on record, the Weather Channel reported. Unfortunately, winter isn't giving up just yet. A slow-moving winter storm will dump 5-8 inches of snow possible from the Plains to the Midwest and the Northeast this weekend. Meteorologists define winter as the three coldest months: December, January and February. The more familiar start date, defined by astronomers as the spring equinox, is still more than three weeks away: March 20.
