MEDFORD, Mass. (AP) — A Tufts University spokeswoman says two people are being treated at a hospital after being stabbed on the Boston-area campus.
Spokeswoman Kim Thurler says the stabbing occurred early Sunday morning on Professors Row, a street that runs through the Somerville/Medford campus.
Tufts has been primarily updating students through email and social media, first tweeting around 5 a.m. asking all students to go to a room, lock the door and stay away from windows. Thurler said that shelter in place is still active while police complete a search of the area.
The victims were not students, according to a tweet by the university.
Tufts commencement was held May 17. It was not immediately clear if students are still on campus.
