Reports: Small plane crashes into Fla. trailer park

A small plane went down in a mobile home park in Palm Beach County, Fla., Tuesday, resulting in an "unknown number of victims" and destroying one mobile home, Albert Borroto, the county fire rescue captain, told the Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel.

Fire crews arrived around 5:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a low-flying aircraft over the Mar Mak Trailer Park, Borroto said.

The crash took place just east of a drive-in movie theater, the Palm Beach Post reported.

Homes in the area were temporarily evacuated and the scene was being preserved for federal investigators, Borotto told the news organization.

Representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration arrived on the scene about 9 p.m. ET, the Post reported.

Witness Arthur Grimes, whose friend lives in the trailer park, told the news organization he saw the aircraft rock from side to side, fall and explode.

"All of a sudden, it just went down," he said.

It is not clear how many people were inside the mobile home affected or the plane, NBC Miami was reporting.

Representatives from Palm Beach County Fire Rescue did not pick up the phone last night, and the representatives with the office authorized to speak to the media at the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office also did not pick up the phone.
