Aunt: San Bernardino suspect 'became more devout'

The slowly emerging profile of Tashfeen Malik, the female suspect in last week's shooting rampage in San Bernardino, Calif., is the story of a smart, hardworking and modern woman who became more devout and dressed more conservatively in recent years. In Malik's Pakistani hometown of Karor Lal Esan, her aunt Hifza Batool, said the family has been stunned by the shootings being investigated by the FBI as terrorism. The aunt told the BBC that Malik brought a "bad name" to the family and that family members can't fathom how she went so wrong. Malik and her husband, Syed Rizwan Farook, opened fire at a holiday party at the Southern California city's Inland Regional Center on Wednesday, killing 14 people.

Police report in Laquan McDonald case at odds with video

Hundreds of pages of police documents released late Friday evening from the investigation of the police officer shooting death of Laquan McDonald show that cops at the scene offered a starkly different picture of what led to fellow officer Jason Van Dyke shooting McDonald 16 times than what a dashcam video released last week depicts. The court-ordered release of the video of the 17-year-old McDonald being gunned down last year by a police officer on a Chicago street appears to show that the teen had been shot as he was veering away from police officers.
