Plane with suspicious item inspected in Miami
An American Airlines flight that arrived in Miami from Paris was inspected by law enforcement Tuesday afternoon after the discovery of a suspicious item, the airline said.
Flight 63, a Boeing 777 that flew from Charles de Gaulle Airport to Miami International Airport, was being inspected after landing safely, American spokesman Ross Feinstein said via e-mail. There were 217 passengers and 14 crew members on board, Feinstein said.
The Miami-Dade Police Department bomb squad responded and concluded the item was safe, the police department said. Passengers were proceeding to customs. Authorities would not provide further details on the item.
The FBI was taking the lead in the case, according to the police department.
