Threats prompt three Seattle-area schools to close
Three Seattle-area schools will be closed on Friday due to threats, the Lake Washington School District offices announced.
Juanita High School, Redmond High School and the Futures School, which is located at Juanita High School, will not be open to students, the district said in a statement. The threats were specific to those three facilities, according to the district.
"Out of an abundance of caution, since we cannot yet determine the credibility of these threats, we have made the difficult decision to close" the schools, superintendent Traci Pierce said.
On Tuesday, what the district described as a "non-specific threat" referring to Friday, Feb. 5, was found in a girl's bathroom at Juanita High School, the district said.
A note found in a girl's bathroom at the school read, "Don't come to school on 2/5 if you like your life. I'm sorry F," KIRO reported.
Kirkland, Wash., police were investigating, No one at the police agency was available to answer questions about the development on Thursday.
Another threatening message also was found at Redmond High School, and also referring to Friday, the school district reported.
