N. Korea fires apparent ballistic missile from sub
North Korea fired what appeared to be a ballistic missile from a submarine toward the East Sea on Saturday, but the projectile sputtered and fell into the ocean after only a few minutes, South Korean media reported. The missile flew for about 18 miles, well short of the minimum range of 180 miles for a submarine-launched ballistic missile, or SLBM, according to the South Korean military. Kim Jong Un declared that the North now has another nuclear strike method and the ability to stick a "dagger of destruction" into the heads of its enemies.

While investigators continued to search for clues at the four homes in Ohio where eight family members were fatally shot on Friday, people in the town of Piketon could only speculate - and worry. “I wish they’d find who did this,” said Marilyn Locke. “It’s just too scary.” “It’s hard to believe that this could happen anywhere, but especially here,” said Eric Meredith. “Everyone knows each other.” Meanwhile, the release of dramatic 911 calls this weekend offered a chilling backdrop to the shooting deaths of members of one family.

Obama defends controversial trade deal in Germany
President Obama on Sunday defended a controversial trade deal between the United States and the European Union that he wants to finalize before leaving office in January. "When people visibly see a plant lost or jobs lost, the narrative drives a lot of suspicion about these trade deals," he said. "If you look at the benefits for our economies, it is indisputable that they are made stronger."

Two pilots landed a sun-powered airplane in California Saturday night, finishing the Pacific leg of their attempt to navigate around-the-world in an aircraft without using any fuel. Swiss adventurer Bertrand Piccard and fellow pilot Andre Borschberg resumed their journey Thursday for the latest leg of their low-speed journey on Solar Impulse 2, nine months after they were grounded because of a fried battery and lack of sunlight during the winter. They made it to California in less than three days, on schedule, despite having nearly run out of fuel.
Jon Jones returns to win convincing decision over Ovince Saint Preux
After nearly 16 months of inaction, Jon Jones shook off some early rust to convincingly defeat Ovince Saint Preux at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, courtesy of a unanimous points decision. Jones was always in control and rarely in trouble against Saint Preux, a late replacement for light heavyweight titleholder Daniel Cormier, subjecting him to heavy punishment in the latter half of round four and winning every round of each of the judges’ scorecards.
