Orlando continues the grim process of burying its dead
A number of funerals for victims of the Pulse nightclub attack are taking place this weekend as the grieving city moves toward healing. Several of those killed in Sunday's mass shooting at the gay hot spot have already been buried, and funerals will continue into next week. Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer has said space has been donated at the city-owned Greenwood Cemetery for families who choose to use it. Complicating the grieving process is the Westboro Baptist Church, which plans to picket outside two of the funerals.
Obama to highlight climate change during national park visits
President Obama and his family are headed to Yosemite National Park in California on Saturday as part of a trip to highlight the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service. It’s not all festivities, though: As climate change is already threatening the parks, the agency is facing a precarious future after years of underfunding from Congress. Obama will draw attention to the dangers of global warming during his weekend trips (he also visited Carlsbad Caverns National Park in New Mexico on Friday), White House officials say.
U.S. Open play continues at Oakmont
