Social media images from protests against police brutality across the U.S.


Thousands gathering across the U.S. this weekend to protest police brutality in response to the recent fatal shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, both African-Americans, by police.

Atlanta:

In Atlanta, a second night of protests on Saturday resulted in 11 people being arrested, police said.

Baton Rouge:

Protesters in Baton Rouge gathered at a convenience store, the city’s police department and the state capitol, resulting in 102 being arrested. DeRay Mckesson, a Black Lives Matter activist, was among those arrested. He was released on bond Sunday.

Indianapolis:

Up to 600 people marched Saturday in Indianapolis to the Indiana State House.

Nashville:

More than 500 people in Nashville marched Saturday in hot weather, often stopping at intersections to sing and pray.

New York:

Hundreds protested in New York City on Saturday, and more than a dozen were arrested in Union Square, NBC New York reported.

Philadelphia:

During an intense night of protests in Philadelphia, police made no arrests, NBC 10 Philadelphia reported.

St. Paul:

In St. Paul, Minn., not far from where Castile was shot and killed Wednesday during a traffic stop, 21 officers were injured — including on who suffered a spinal fracture after a large block of concrete was dropped on his head — as demonstrators shut down the I-94 freeway.

San Francisco:

Hundreds of protesters blocked roads and ramps at the Bay Bridge in San Francisco.
