5 things you need to know Tuesday

Obama traveling to Louisiana to view flood damage

President Obama will visit Baton Rouge, La., on Tuesday to view the devastation caused by the extensive flooding in the state. In a statement Friday, the White House said Obama wanted to get a firsthand look at the devastation and learn how the federal government can help without interfering with the recovery. Some Republicans have criticized the president for playing golf instead of interrupting his vacation to go to Louisiana, though Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards had said he preferred that Obama delay visiting the state so his visit wouldn't divert law enforcement resources from recovery efforts.

Bergdahl attorneys to argue case was tainted

While the Bergdahl trial makes it way through military court, defense attorneys are expected to argue a separate motion on Tuesday that public comments made by Sen. John McCain tainted the case against Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. Bergdahl faces a court-martial on charges of desertion and misbehavior before the enemy for walking off his post in Afghanistan in 2009 — a move that he says led to his detainment by the Taliban and its allies until 2014. The latter charge carries up to a life sentence. McCain, a prisoner of war in Vietnam, has criticized Bergdahl’s story and said the Senate Armed Services Committee plans to examine the case after the military court makes its decision.

Chicago's O'Hare Airport sends off T. rex fossil

Chicago’s O’Hare Airport (ORD) will throw a party Tuesday to properly send off Trix, a 66-million-year-old female Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton excavated in Montana in 2013. The bones will board a KLM flight to Amsterdam’s Schipohol Airport before taking residence at the Naturalis Biodiversity Center, a museum near Leiden. Trix has more than 80% of her bone volume, placing her in the top-three rankings of the most complete T. rex skeletons in the world. At Tuesday’s sendoff, passengers in ORD's International Terminal 5 will be able to watch the crates filled with 13,000 pounds of bones get loaded onto the airplane and witness the KLM pilot making sure Trix’s giant Dutch passport is in order.

Timberlake, Biel host star-studded fundraiser for Clinton

With the 2016 race for celebrity presidential endorsements underway, Justin Timberlake and wife Jessica Biel will co-host a starry fundraiser for Hillary Clinton in Los Angeles on Tuesday, with other Hollywood co-hosts, including Jennifer Aniston, Tobey Maguire and Shonda Rhimes. Despite this being the most unprecedented presidential campaign in American history, the traditional “celeb gap”— Democrats who usually boast Hollywood endorsements — remains obvious, albeit increasingly wider than ever before. With few endorsements from mostly C-list celebrities like rocker Ted Nugent and wrestler Hulk Hogan, Donald Trump could plausibly boast he’s a bigger star than any celeb who might endorse him.

The wait is over: 'Madden NFL 17' is here!

"Madden NFL 17," one of EA Sports' most popular and longest-running video game titles, hits store shelves Tuesday, and not a moment too soon. Just this month, the video game sparked a Twitter feud between NFL superstars and prompted a Dallas Cowboy to blast the game's players rating system. Yeah, the video game franchise is that important — and with over 20 years of rich history, it's easy to understand why. To commemorate the special occasion, our friends at For The Win ranked every "Madden" cover, from best to worst.
