6 people shot in downtown Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS — Six people were shot in two separate shootings in downtown Minneapolis early Monday, according to police.

Police say two people were injured in the first shooting about 1 a.m. CT in the area of 4th Street South between Hennepin Avenue and Nicollet. The second shooting happened about 15 minutes later, where four people were found at the scene with injuries.

Police said all of the victims were men. All six were taken to the hospital. One was shot in the chest and is listed in stable condition. The others had non life-threatening injuries, police said. At least one of the victims is a juvenile.

Minneapolis Police arrested a suspect after a short foot chase after the second shooting. Officers also found a handgun in a nearby parking lot but do know know whether the person arrested was responsible for either shooting.

Investigators believe both shootings are gang-related, adding that none of the victims were cooperating with police in either incident.
