Hurricane Maria takes aim at already battered islands in the Caribbean
The islands of the eastern Caribbean prepared to face another potential disaster, with forecasters saying newly-formed and likely to strengthen Hurricane Maria was headed for a hit on the Leeward Islands by Monday night. The U.S. National Hurricane Center said Maria was expected to gain power and could be near major hurricane strength while crossing through the Leeward Islands on a path aiming toward Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Haiti. There are also growing concerns that Florida again could become a target.
Trump treks to the the U.N., leaving world leaders uneasy
President Trump heads to the United Nations to meet with 120-plus world leaders this week, beginning Monday with a meeting on U.N. reform. That night, he will host a dinner with Latin American leaders to discuss problems plaguing Venezuela. Trump also hopes to rally countries against North Korea's nuclear threats, but many leaders are still reeling from the somewhat testy Trump they encountered at global summits earlier this year.

Chili's trims menu by 40% as new menu debuts
Chili's, one of the oldest and most recognizable American casual restaurant chains, is eliminating 40% of its items in a new menu launching nationwide on Monday. The move aims to keep up with diners' penchant for quicker-service competitors that have more streamlined options. The chain's more popular dishes, such as burgers, ribs and fajitas, will remain on the new 75-item menu, it said.
Salvador Dali paternity hearing begins
Salvador Dalí must be chuckling in his grave. Or raging. A Spanish judge in June ordered the remains of the famous (and infamous) artist to be exhumed to settle a paternity suit, despite opposition from the foundation that manages the artist's estate. Dalí, one of the fathers of the art movement known as Surrealism, died in 1989 and is buried in Figueres, where he was born. Pilar Abel, a tarot-card reader from the nearby city of Girona who was born in 1956, says she is the offspring of an affair between Dalí and her mother, Antonia. The first hearing in the case is scheduled for Monday, a lawyer said.

The fight for the Mirrorball Trophy renews when Dancing With the Stars returns for its 25th season, airing Monday at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.Contestants in this latest season include celebrity couple Nick and Vanessa Lachey, '80s teen star Debbie Gibson and Property Brother Drew Scott. Former NFL star Terrell Owens looks to be the latest ex-NFL player to win the competition after former NFL running back Rashad Jennings won the trophy last season.
