Omarosa: Whistleblower or 'wacky'?

Rushing to tell all

Ex-White House staffer and “Apprentice” star Omarosa Manigault Newman remained the talk of Washington on Monday, revealing on NBC’s “Today” that she recorded her conversation with President Donald Trump after her firing in December 2017. Trump in a series of tweets Monday called her "wacky" and "not smart." The insults came on the heels of Sunday’s “Meet the Press” which aired snippets of a recording of chief of staff John Kelly speaking to Manigault Newman about her reputation and some "pretty serious integrity violations" against her. But critics questioned whether the recordings, at least one in the notoriously secure Situation Room, constituted a crime. The short answer? Maybe, maybe not. Mark Zaid, an attorney specializing in national security, advised: "This is Washington and everyone should have a lawyer." Omarosa's tell-all book is set for release Tuesday.

Anti-Trump texts cost FBI agent his job

A reminder to think before texting: FBI agent Peter Strzok was fired, his lawyer announced Monday, plagued for insulting then-presidential candidate Donald Trump in private text messages to his co-worker girlfriend Lisa Page in 2016. Strzok, who said his personal opinion of Trump didn't affect his work, had helped lead the investigations into Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election and into Clinton's use of a private email server while she was secretary of state. These texts have been haunting Strzok since last summer when special counsel Robert Mueller took him off the Russia case.

First week of NFL preseason down

Starters barely played the first week of NFL preseason, but here's what we learned from the kickoff to football season:

Yoga pants are the new denim

Lee and Wrangler's parent company is putting on its yoga pants and joining Millennials in their pursuit for comfy clothes. Amid an athleisure clothing boom, the iconic jean companies are spinning off a new, yet-unnamed company under the VF Corp. umbrella that will continue offering brands including The North Face and JanSport. The new company expects to have more than $2.5 billion in annual sales. Maybe it will sell jeggings?

What are teens talking about?

Well, if you mean today, it's probably how Pitch Perfect star Anna Kendrick trolled Deadpool's Ryan Reynolds after she beat him to win the best Twitter personality. Yep, that's a Teen Choice Awards category, and so are scene stealer, male hottie, female hottie, liplock and hissy fit. Of course, if you want to know what Gen Z's talking about more generally, here's a slang glossary so you can hundo P understand their V confusing texts (watch out for "lean" and "juul").
