Trump in Vietnam, Pence in Colombia, R. Kelly in jail: 5 things you need to know Monday

Trump preps for second North Korea summit

The world will be watching when President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un sit down this week for their second summit in less than a year. The meeting, slated for Feb. 27 and 28 in Vietnam, follows their first round of face-to-face talks last summer in Singapore and offers the leaders a chance to flesh out details of a history-making denuclearization agreement that emerged from the initial dialogue. Trump wrote that he would be leaving for Vietnam early Monday. Since the first meeting last year, some U.S. officials said North Korea has yet to take concrete, verifiable steps to end its nuclear weapons program.

R. Kelly, still in jail, to appear in court again

R&B star R. Kelly is due back in court Monday, where he'll learn which judge has been assigned his case, reports say. Kelly was charged with sexually abusing four people Friday and his bond was set at $1 million by a Chicago judge Saturday. During a press conference after the hearing, Cook County State Attorney Kim Foxx provided details on the accusers, which include Kelly's then-24-year-old hairdresser, two 16-year-olds and one person who was 14 years old at the time of the first alleged incident. The multiple alleged criminal acts of sexual assault date back to 1998. The judge called the allegations against Kelly "disturbing." A lawyer for R. Kelly says the singer may not post bail until Monday or Tuesday.

Vice President Mike Pence to meet with Venezuela opposition leader

Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido said Saturday he would meet U.S. Vice President Mike Pence on Monday in Colombia’s capital at an emergency meeting of mostly conservative Latin American governments to discuss Venezuela’s crisis. Over the weekend, Venezuela’s National Guard rained tear gas, rubber bullets and fire bombs on activists on the Colombia-Venezuela border. The opposition tried to execute a high-risk plan to deliver humanitarian aid despite the refusal of President Nicolas Maduro.

Manafort's lawyers to respond to Mueller sentencing memo

Prosecutors in a 25-page sentencing memo on Saturday urged a federal judge not to reduce the sentence of Paul Manafort, President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman, from the 17- to nearly 22-year term in guidelines for his conspiracy case. On Monday, Manafort's lawyers are expected to respond to the filing. Judge Amy Berman Jackson has scheduled Manafort's sentencing for March 13.

Sweet: Coke debuts its first new flavor in more than a decade

Say hello to Orange Vanilla Coke and Orange Vanilla Coke Zero Sugar. The pair of new products – the first for regular Coke in more than a decade – go on sale across the country Monday. Coca-Cola brand director Kate Carpenter said on the company's blog that the new flavor "is reminiscent of the creamy orange popsicles we grew up loving, but in a classically Coke way." Three other flavors were tested – raspberry, lemon and ginger – but the orange and vanilla combo won big with focus groups, the company said.
