A Connecticut mom went missing. Her estranged husband and his girlfriend now face charges
NORWALK, Conn. – A missing Connecticut mother's estranged husband and his girlfriend are both being held on $500,000 bail after their first court appearances since being charged with evidence tampering and hindering prosecution.
Fotis Dulos and Michelle Troconis did not enter pleas as they were appeared for the charges Monday, June 3 at Norwalk Superior Court, where a prosecutor said more charges are expected to be filed.
Both were arrested Saturday night in connection with the investigation into the May 24 disappearance of 50-year-old Jennifer Dulos in New Canaan. Jennifer Dulos, a mother of five, was last seen dropping off her children at school and remains missing.
The search for Jennifer Dulos brought police to Pound Ridge, a town about 8 miles from the house that Jennifer Dulos rented and lived in with her five children, according to reports. Her 85-year-old mother lives in Manhattan but owns a house in Pound Ridge.
Jennifer and Fotis Dulos have been embroiled in a contentious divorce and child custody case for the past two years.
Court documents in the divorce case said Jennifer Dulos feared her husband would harm her in some way in retaliation for filing for divorce, the Associated Press reported.
Fotis Dilos was asking a judge to grant him custody of the children. Since their mother went missing, the children have been staying with Jennifer Dulos' mother in New York City.
Details of the charges against Dulos and Troconis have not been released.
