Winter weather: 'Mixed bag of glop' on the way for millions
Some 25 million Americans will be under weather advisories and warnings Monday as a pair of winter storms brings ice, snow, rain – or a "mixed bag of glop." "Monday morning will see a band of snow from Indiana eastward all the way to New Jersey," said AccuWeather senior meteorologist John Gresiak. Some areas in northern and central Missouri into Illinois could see a foot of snow before the system moves out late Monday. In the Northeast, a narrow "stripe" of 6- to 12-inch snowfall is expected. "But confidence remains low on exactly where that stripe will occur," said AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Rob Miller.Commutes could be messy in Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Philadelphia

Mississippi man accused of quadruple homicide could return home after six trials
A Mississippi man is scheduled to appear in court on Monday for a bond hearing, and if things go his way, he could return home for the first time in more than 20 years. Curtis Flowers was first accused of committing a quadruple homicide in 1996 — a crime for which he has now been tried six times, a record that is unprecedented in modern U.S. history, legal experts have said. Earlier this year, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Flowers' most recent conviction after justices found the prosecutor had been racially discriminatory during the jury selection process. The case is now being treated as if Flowers, 49, had just been indicted on the murders.
