Meet the world's shortest person: Here's how tall the man and woman with the record are.

The thing about records is that they're meant to be broken. From the "longest human tunnel traveled through by a skateboarding dog" to the "largest living cat," Guinness World Records has been tracking achievements since its inception in 1955.

You may think you're not that tall in comparison to friends or family, believing yourself to be the shortest person ever. But think again. The real record-holder was under 2 feet tall.

Here are some of the shortest humans in history.

Who is the shortest man in the world?

The shortest man living is Afshin Ghaderzadeh of Iran, according to Guinness Word Records. He stands 2 feet 1.6 inches tall. He was born on July 13, 2002.

He took over the title from the previous record-holder Edward Niño Hernandez of Colombia in Dec. 2022. Hernandez stands approximately 2 feet 4.4 inches tall, Guinness Word Records reports.

Ghaderzadeh weighs just 14.3 pounds.

Who is the shortest woman in the world?

Jyoti Amge holds the title of the shortest woman living, Guinness Word Records reports. She stands 2 feet 0.7 inches tall. She was born on Dec. 16, 1993, in Nagpur, India.

Her height is the result of achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism that results from a genetic mutation in the arms and legs.

Amge previously held the record of the shortest-living teenager (female) and became the shortest-living woman when she turned 18, according to Guinness Word Records.

Who is the shortest man ever?

Chandra Dangi of Nepal is the shortest man ever, according to Guinness Word Records. Dangi stood 21.5 inches tall, which is under 2 feet.

He held the title of shortest living man until his death in Sept. 2015.
