Hello, Mother Nature? Are you OK? 

The coming week will bring weather extremes of almost every stripe to the U.S.: From a baking heat wave in the Midwest and Northeast to an unseasonable chilly start in the Pacific Northwest. Throw in some snow in the Rocky Mountains because why not?

Seriously, snow in the Rockies? Possibly snow − yes, snow − in June. Yes! June! That snow will be falling at higher elevations, generally above 6,000 feet, so it shouldn't impact many populated areas. 

Blistering heat wave: Scorching temperatures well into the 90s are expected over the East and into the Midwest and Great Lakes region, and will last through next weekend.

Trying to escape the heat? A quick trip to the Pacific Northwest might do the trick. Cities such as Seattle and Portland are looking at temps in the mid-60s this week. 🌡️ See the full forecast.

Growing wildfire burns near LA

A big wildfire is getting bigger. Thousands of people across California were under evacuation advisories Monday as firefighters battled blazes that erupted over the weekend, torching thousands of acres.

The Post Fire: Fueled by powerful wind gusts, the fire had burned 15,610 acres of dry, mountainous land by Monday morning. Eight percent of the fire has been contained, Cal Fire said. 🔥 See latest updates.

In a New York Times opinion essay published Monday, the U.S. surgeon general called for social media companies to be required to use safety warning labels because they're creating a mental health crisis. 

What he's saying: Citing research that shows social media could be negatively impacting youth mental health, Dr. Vivek H. Murthy said a surgeon general's warning on social media platforms, similar to those on tobacco and alcohol products, could raise awareness for parents about the potential harm of the platforms.

However: Some experts argue that the responsibility should be on the parents to protect their children's mental health, not the government or tech companies. 📲 Here's what to know. 

American tourist found dead on Greek island

It's extremely hot in Greece right now. So hot, officials closed schools, and even the ancient Acropolis complex. And now three people have died amid the blistering heat wave.

The latest death: An American tourist reported missing on June 11 was found dead on the beach on the small Greek island of Mathraki on Sunday, officials said. Temperatures reached as high as 104 degrees Fahrenheit on the day he was last seen. There were signs the man had drowned.

As of Monday, three other tourists were reported missing, all last seen on Greek islands. 👉 More about the deaths in Greece.
