Nikki Haley asks Haley Voters for Harris to stop using her name, group is undeterred

Former South Carolina governor and presidential candidate Nikki Haley is demanding that a political action committee stop using her name to promote Vice President Kamala Harris.

Haley Voters for Harris supported Haley during the 2024 Republican primaries but endorsed Harris after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race on Sunday. The group, previously Haley Voters for Biden, said they wanted to reach out to center-right and moderate Republicans to oppose former president Donald Trump, the GOP nominee.

The PAC has rejected Haley's request.

"We enthusiastically supported Ambassador Haley over former President Trump in the primaries and our mission is to encourage like-minded voters to vote for Vice President Harris in November," the organization said in a statement. "We do not claim to represent Ambassador Haley or her views. There are many other like-minded Haley voters who also do not plan to support former President Trump in November."

The group drummed up support for Haley when she was running against Trump for the GOP nomination earlier this year. It is not affiliated with Haley or her nonprofit Stand for America.

Craig Snyder, director of the group, said the Democratic vice president is “the most likely and the best alternative for the Democratic nomination.”

Financed by PivotPAC, which encouraged Democrats and Independents to vote for Haley in the GOP primaries to stop Trump from becoming the GOP nominee. The group rebranded to support Biden, initially but rebranded to Haley Voters for Harris after Biden ended his re-election bid despite Haley's negative comments about Harris.

“For more than a year I've said a vote for Joe Biden is a vote for President Kamala Harris. After seeing the debate, everyone knows it's true," Haley said at the RNC held in Milwaukee last week. "If we have four more years of Biden or a single day of Harris, our country will be badly worse off. For the sake of our nation, we have to go with Donald Trump."
