What to do when the stock market sinks like a stone
Americans have whiplash after the week opened with a "correction" (a market drop that's not a recession). Japan’s Nikkei 225 index made a sharp recovery Tuesday after posting the worst one-day return in its history on Monday. Losses spread from Asia to Europe to the United States, where the S&P 500 and Nasdaq closed sharply lower on Monday. Though it's hard to stay calm, experts say you should try. When the stock market tumbles, your first impulse may be to sell. But remember, then you are selling low.

After two failed tries at 6.25 meters, Armand “Mondo” Duplantis — representing Sweden but born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana — set a world record Monday night in pole vaulting. The 24-year-old took off and contorted his body over the 6.25 meter bar, his landing on the mat greeted by a thunderous roar from an enraptured audience in Paris chanting his name.
