Want to pay respects to former President Jimmy Carter? Here are the funeral, motorcade schedules

A weeklong state funeral will take place for former President Jimmy Carter, who died Sunday at 100, beginning Saturday in Americus, Georgia and ending with interment in his hometown of Plains, Georgia.
Stops in between will be at the Georgia State Capitol, a service at The Carter Center, viewings in Atlanta and Washington, and a national service at Washington's National Cathedral.
"The Carter Family invites the public to honor and celebrate the life of former President Carter by payingtheir respects during either of the public viewings; the funeral procession in Washington; in thedowntown area of Plains, Georgia; or along the motorcade routes in Georgia and Washington," the Carter family said in a statement.
Official times and routes were announced by The Carter Center.

Saturday, Jan. 4
- State funeral begins at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia at 10:45 am. where a motorcade will take Carter's remains to his hometown of Plains for a stop at his boyhood home for a brief pause at 10:50 a.m.
- The motorcade will travel leave Plains at 10:55 and travel to Atlanta where it will stop at Georgia's State Capitol for for a moment of silence by Gov. Brian Kemp, Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, Mayor of Atlanta Andre Dickens, members of the Georgia Legislature, and Georgia State Patrol Troopers at 3 p.m.
- The motorcade then leaves for The Carter Center for an arrival ceremony at 3:45 p.m. followed by a 4 p.m. service.
- Following the service, he will lie in repose for mourners to come and pay their respects from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Tuesday.
Sunday, Jan. 5
- Carter continues to lie in repose until 6 a.m. on Tuesday. The public is invited to pay their respects throughout this time.
Monday, Jan. 6
- Carter continues to lie in repose until 6 a.m. on Tuesday. The public is invited to pay their respects throughout this time.
Tuesday, Jan. 7
- A ceremony at 9:30 a.m. for the late president at the Carter Center will precede the motorcade's departure for Dobbins Air Force Base where they will board Special Air Mission 39 to travel to Washington at 10:40 a.m.
- The Air Mission 39 will land at Joint Base Andrews at 12:45 p.m.
- The motorcade will travel at 1:15 p.m. to the U.S. Navy Memorial for a horse-drawn caisson to the U.S. Capitol at 2 p.m.
- Congress will pay respects during a 3 p.m. ceremony in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda.
- Carter will lie in state from 7 p.m. to midnight for public viewing.
Wednesday, Jan. 8
- Carter will lie in state for public viewing from 7 a.m., Jan. 8, until 7 a.m., Jan. 9.
Thursday, Jan. 9
- A 9 a.m. ceremony at the U.S. Capitol as the motorcade departs for the Washington National Cathedral and a 9:30 a.m. arrival ceremony.
- The National Funeral Service will take place at 10 a.m.
- Following the ceremony, at 11:15 a.m., Carter's family will travel by motorcade to Joint Base Andrews for departure back to Georgia.
- Special Air Mission 39 arrives at Lawson Army Airfield at Fort Moore, Georgia, at 2 p.m.
- Carter and his family then travel by motorcade to Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains for a private funeral service at 3:45 p.m.
- The family will travel by motorcade at 4:45 to the Carter's private residence for a private interment at 5:20 p.m.
"The public is invited to line the motorcade route as Carter and his family travel through his beloved hometown of Plains, Georgia to the late president’s final resting place. Prior to interment, the U.S. Navy will conduct a missing man formation flyover in honor of former President Carter’s naval service and time as commander-in-chief shortly after the motorcade’s arrival at the residence," the family stated.
