Where does the US vice president live? Take a look inside JD Vance's new digs in Washington, D.C.
After being sworn in as vice president just over a month ago, Cincinnati resident J.D. Vance and his family moved into the VP's official residence in Washington, D.C. The white 19th-century house at U.S. Naval Observatory was built in 1893 and originally housed the observatory's superintendent, according to the White House.
Historically, vice presidents and their families lived in their own homes, according to the White House. However, the cost of securing these private residences grew substantially over the years. In 1974, Congress agreed to refurbish the Naval Observatory house as the vice president's residence.
The vice president's house is roughly 2.5 miles from the White House, per Google Maps.
