The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced Thursday that the teenager arrested in the Apalachee High School shooting rampage in Winder has been charged with four counts of felony murder.

Colt Gray, 14, is charged with murdering two teachers and two students Wednesday morning at the high school where he matriculated.

Gray has his first court appearance scheduled for Friday in Barrow County Superior Court before Piedmont Judicial Circuit Judge Currie Mingledorff.

The GBI said additional charges are forthcoming. Besides the four deaths, nine people were wounded by gunfire with the most serious victim being air-lifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith said Wednesday that those wounded are expected to recover.

Autopsies on the four victims were performed Thursday at the GBI’s Medical Examiner’s Office in Atlanta, but results were not immediately available.

Gray, who was a ninth-grader at the high school, is currently incarcerated in the Gainesville Regional Youth Detention Center. Gray surrendered during the shooting spree after he was confronted by a school resource officer, according to officials.

Those slain at the school were students Mason Schermerhorn, 14, and Christian Angulo, 14, and teachers Richard Aspinwalll, 39, and Christina Irimie, 53.

Classes in the Barrow County School System were cancelled for the remainder of the week.
