The claim: Video shows people around the world protesting Trump presidency in January 2025
A Jan. 28 Instagram video (direct link, archive link) shows clips of thousands of people marching and holding signs criticizing and mocking President Donald Trump.
"People around the world are protesting because Donald Trump is the president," text above the video reads. "The news is reporting nothing about this."
The post garnered more than 90,000 likes in five days. Other versions of the claim were shared on Facebook and Instagram.

The video was captured in London more than six years before Trump's second term. The 2018 footage shows tens of thousands of people protesting the president's visit to the U.K. that year.
Video captured during Trump's first term
Crowds gathered in cities across the country, and even overseas, on Jan. 20 to protest Trump's inauguration.
But the Instagram video doesn't show any of those protests.
NBC News originally published the series of clips in July 2018, when Trump visited London for the first time as president. The footage shows the same group of women dressed in costumes from the book and TV series "The Handmaid's Tale," and people holding identical anti-Trump signs.
Tens of thousands of protestors had marched around Trafalgar Square in London to protest Trump's visit at the time, according to the video's caption.

CNN, CBS News and BBC News broadcasted similar clips of the demonstration.
