Newspaper fosters, finds new homes for these adorable pups

GREENVILLE, SC - How's this for a fun coworker? The Greenville News welcomes Newshounds to its offices to be fostered by staff until the dog is matched with a new family. The Newshound program started in 2015 and has helped match five dogs with homes.
The goal of the program is to bring awareness to the hundreds of adoptable pets currently residing at Greenville County Animal Care.
For its latest foster, the newsroom ultimately decided to choose the dog whose residence at GCAC had been the longest, and that was Apollo Zeus, a 13-year-old poodle mix.
Apollo arrived at Greenville County Animal Care as a stray, matted and hungry, on June 25th. Groomers at GCAC gave him a nice bath and a trim, exposing some of the gray which is just about the only thing that hints at his age.
Apollo was a little nervous at first, but warms right up to anyone offering a treat. He enjoys a good long nap, but when he’s running free there is a refined and playful spunk in his step and in the wag of his feathery tail that suggests he’s as frisky as he ever was. A distinguished gentleman, indeed.
Meredith Bost, the owner of Resident Dogs, is excited to partner with the program.
“Having found both of our dogs through local adoption, I’m thrilled that my small business can help raise awareness and funds for a cause that’s brought my family so much joy,” Bost said.
