Junior got to do what most kids only dream of

NEW YORK CITY -- Junior Tejada is fighting cancer in his eye and he’s only twelve years old.
After a playground accident caused an eye-injury that would not heal, Tejada’s family learned the devastating news.
“When I found out that my son had cancer, my world ended for me that day,” says Taisha Ramos, Tejada’s mother. “But we stayed strong as a family, for Junior; he really needed me.”
His mother has been by his side the past several years, giving him the strength and courage to carry on.
She recently got him involved with the Garden of Dreams, a non-profit organization that works with the New York Knicks.
Through the organization, Tejada met Carmelo Anthony, John Starks, Larry Johnson, and Bernard King. Recently, during the foundation’s “Garden of Dreams Week,” he met and played ball with Kristaps Porziņģis.
For Tejada, a basketball fanatic and a huge Knicks fan, it was an experience he’ll never forget.
“It was amazing meeting them,” says Tejada. “I’ve never seen basketball players in real life. It was a dream come true!”
