Military son surprises mom at her graduation

MANKATO, MN - Penny Pearson thought her husband was going to pin her for her pinning ceremony when she graduated from nursing school. Her son, home from a deployment in Kuwait and Iraq, surprised her instead.
"It was so surreal to have him home," Pearson said.
Pearson wasn't expecting her son, Dustin, to be home for a few days. Video of the surprise has been viewed thousands of times on Facebook. In the video, Pearson hugs her son, Dustin, and wipes tears from her eyes.
While Dustin Pearson, 29, was in Kuwait, he offered moral support to his mom when she went back to school. Pearson says she would talk to her son via video conference when school got tough.
Becoming a nurse was a lifelong dream fulfilled for Pearson. Having all her children watch her graduate made it perfect, she said.
