Students from one Middle Tennessee elementary school lent their hands to bring a custodian an especially happy birthday.

A kindergarten class from Hickerson Elementary School in Tullahoma sang and signed "Happy Birthday" to custodian James Anthony, who is hearing impaired.

The performance for Anthony's 60th birthday took place Tuesday, WZTV-TV reported

A video shows the classroom performance and the reaction from Anthony, who beams with surprise and delight throughout. The footage was later shared on the school's Facebook page.

“Mr. James teaches the kids sign language every now and then, teaches them good manners and how to treat other people,” Jimmy Anderson, the school's principal, told the station.

Anthony has worked for the Coffee County School system in Manchester for more than two decades.
