Oops! Facebook accidentally releases Slingshot app

Facebook accidentally gave a sneak peek at its new photo- and video-sharing app, Slingshot.

Facebook prematurely released a version of the app on Monday and then took it down from the iTunes app store.

Facebook confirmed the accidental release and said in a e-mail to Paste BN Network, "It'll be ready soon and we're excited for you to try it out."

The app was never available in the U.S. store, reportsTechCrunch.

Unlike competitor Snapchat, Slingshot won't allow friends to see your image until they "sling" back a shot to you, according to Yahoo Tech.

Paste BN Network has requested comment from Facebook.
