Video shows an unidentified man with a clipboard not wearing protective hazmat gear as he escorts Dallas nurse Amber Vinson to plane in Texas.

He does not appear to be touching Vinson, who is infected with the Ebola virus.

The airline told ABC News that the man was a medical protocol supervisor who was not wearing protective gear on purpose "for a higher level of safety."

"Our medical professionals in the biohazard suits have limited vision and mobility and it is the protocol supervisor's job to watch each person carefully and give them verbal directions to ensure no close-contact protocols are violated," a Phoenix Air spokesperson told ABC, the station reports.

Vinson was transferred to Atlanta's Emory University Hospital on Wednesday for treatment after being diagnosed with Ebola. The 29-year-old is the second Dallas hospital worker to test positive for Ebola after caring for a patient who died of Ebola.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says Vinson, who lived alone, had been monitoring herself for symptoms when she reported to the hospital with a low-grade fever Tuesday. She was immediately placed in an isolation unit, then tested positive for the killer virus.

Folks on Twitter have taken to calling the man "clipboard dude," asking why he is in plain clothes and not a hazmat suit.
